The Web Designer can be compared to the architect of a house - he designs (plans) the look and feel of the website, and the way in which someone interacts with it.
The Web Developer is then the building contractor of the house - he builds the website to specifications and makes it functional. He converts the ‘house’ from the image as it was designed, into a usable and functional ‘building’ - converting the designed image into HTML, CSS and JavaScript.

We use Backdrop CMS, a fork of the very popular Drupal CMS, for the websites we build.

CMS is short for Content Management System and makes it much easier to manage the website’s content.
